I have been fortunate to get a chance to work closely with few of the noted and high ranking Industrial tycoons in eastern India, Bangladesh ,Nepal & Bhutan. It is actually very difficult to get appointments from these busy persons but if somehow someone manages to get their valuable time then one has to be very very sure to utilize every second he has kindly given to the visitor.
I have been working in this geographical territory for almost 29 years selling machines, moulds and projects and my key intention has always been to learn as much as you can from these personalities.
The idea of sharing my experience here is to know as to what takes them to the summit while many fails to even climb up a small distance.
The common traits in their personality I have noticed are as below:-
1. They are open to any idea or any subject related to their business or investment.
2. They will give you a very patient uninterrupted hearing if one talks something interesting to them in spite of knowing many things already about the subject being discussed.
3. This active listening will enable them to learn from other as much as possible and later they just keep information which is worth for them and balance they discard.
4. They know how to cut a meeting short if one wastes their time.
5. They value their time the most and use every bit of it productively.
6. They never announce that they know everything and generally very humble in their approach.
7. They never hold any such discussion during their productive hour and many set the slot mostly on Friday evening so to discuss something related to betterment of existing business process or future business ideas but ends the meeting within specified time and does not drag it for long.
8. All have excellent foresight and always remain updated and future ready.
This self-discipline and open mind set as per me sets them apart from the rest.
There could be many other qualities which I may not have noticed.
Thank you!
